When we awaken to the spine's aliveness, movement that once felt like a great effort can become spacious and easeful.
Join Jasmine for this three hour exploration of the spine through movement, embodied anatomy and discussion.
Your spine isn't a rigid, unyielding column. Its a living, breathing piece of organic architecture that's more like a wave or a snake than an pillar. Every piece of you is woven from and into this intelligent structure and its inseparable from the fluctuations of your breath.
When we remember and embody the innate intelligence of the spine and its ever moving nature, the whole body can move with more ease and nimbleness and our movement practice becomes less prescriptive and more our own.
In this three hour workshop we'll get curious about:
The basic anatomy of the spine and breath
The relationship between breathing and the spine and how this informs movement and yoga postures
Breath as the conductor of movement
Philosophy from non-dual tantra
This workshop will be a mix of discussion and embodied movement. Rolling on the floor, using props, working with a generous movement practice, breathwork and even some light partner work.
The practice will end with rest and space for questions and discussion.
We'll work with a reduced capacity to allow for more space in the studio.
This isn't a workshop for you if you want to be told exactly how to do something - this is for the inquisitive, for those ready to move outside of simplistic and outdated concepts of alignment, for those who are bored of dogma and want to find better ways of moving in their own body.
